Hello, World!

Working in the expanded field of painting, Michelle Furlong investigates the performative notion of «play» found within the frame of games, sports, and rituals towards pictorial and sculptural installations. She seeks to create spaces, worlds within worlds, where being and becoming are able to dance together for at least an instant; a medial place for the play of movement and transformation. By engaging with «play», Furlong’s multidisciplinary installations encourage viewers to question rules and the potentialities of actions, aiming towards a sense of poetic emancipation.

Michelle Furlong holds an MFA from Concordia University (2018), a Post-Baccalaureate from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (2008), and a BFA from Concordia University (2006). She has presented her work in numerous solo and collaborative exhibitions, including at DRAC art actuel (Drummondville), Centre Clark (Montreal), Parisian Laundry (Montreal), Tap Art Space (Toronto), McBride Contemporary (Montreal), and Galerie D’Este (Montreal). Recently, she completed a residency at ArtKlub in New Orleans, Louisiana (2020).
