Statement
-To begin with the human body – to cover it, to conceal it and to contain it, so as to expose it, reveal it and set it free.-
I am a visual artist with a multidisciplinary approach working in the mediums of painting, drawing, and sculpture.
My work begins with the body as a form and a subject. My process consists of imposing and exposing its limits by
drawing out the boundaries that are present between the internal space and the external space in which the body exists.
It is by cutting and rearranging the image of the body that I try to define its physical limits, and it is by bonding and wrapping
its shape that I try to define its space. I create and impose boundaries on the body in order to understand and evaluate the limits
and the potentialities they generate. I am interested in investigating the different perceptions that arise once these boundaries
are exposed, opened, and broken, or when new ones are created. Currently, I am interested in investigating the limits and the
constraints that confine and define the human body as both a physical form and a subject. My goal is to create a body of work
that engages with and questions both the space occupied by the body, and the space that contains it. My process permits me
to make visible the limitations and barriers that exist between the conscious body and its surrounding social context, ones that
are frequently hidden or that pass unnoticed.
